Hilda’s gracious hospitality was known in Montreal as she was the first hug, with breakfast waiting, when she greeted us off the boat. Hilda was as warm as all Newfoundland. My thoughts are with you, and I know my late parents, Harvey and Bessie May (nee Pye) would also want to send their condolences.

I have over 67 years of memories of my Auntie Hilda. There was always a hot meal, a mug up or a place to sleep when passing through Port Aux Basques. She was always interested in how you were doing. Always up for a joke and a good laugh. On our recent visits to see my mother Mary, Hilda was always there with an invite for tea. We will never forget her.

Joan Oh my gosh! I was so sadden to hear about the passing of your mom. It was so wondeful to have had to opportunity to see her this past summer. Such a lovely and plesant person. We grew up with stories of your Mom all our lives as our folks were life long friends. On behalf of my late parents, Joan and Hugh Rankin, and myself please accept our condolances. You know they are are all gathering up above and I expect carrying on with all the fun they use too. I like to think that anyway. Take care.

Joan, Tony and Andrew, My memories of Auntie Hilda are her smiles, laughter and stories that accompanied visits with her. I so cherish that she was the organist at our wedding at St. Mary's thirty-five years ago! She was indeed a special lady!
