To the McAuley family and Willie, I just yesterday learned of Monty’s passing. I’m so sad to hear this news. Monty was a wonderful guy, kind and respectful, and as a school administrator, I thoroughly appreciated him as a co-worker. Last time that shawn and I were home in August 2022 we were visiting Ed in Summerside and Monty came by for a chat and few laughs it was so nice to see him

Monty has been near and dear to my heart for more than fifty years now. I always remember him being there for me and Neville when we were young, he called Neville his “ little buddy “. He was thoughtful and caring and his sense of humour was brilliant. His portrayal of characters were impeccable and hilarious - Monty could have been an actor. When my children spent time with him they thought he was the best thing Newfoundland had to offer, whether he was giving them a ride in boat or on quad or just being in the same room with him, they knew he was special and they remember him fondly. My last visit with Monty he took me down to his favourite spot down on the beach behind his home. He was so proud of that little paradise and of course he had many a story about it. I will forever cherish that memory and the man.

Saddened to hear of Montys passing.I met Monty when I started working with the school board in 1989. Monty was a likeable guy down to earth .Always enjoyed our conversations .After I retired and he would see me he always stopped to chat asking how things were going ..He wasn't just making conversation he was genuine .
