Sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. She was a dear friend whom I've known for just about all my life. I worked in the office with her at Goodyear and House Ltd. A delight to work with, a lover of fine dining and a laughter that would make your day. It was always a pleasure to meet up with her at her beloved Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and chat. She was a beautiful lady of faith Condolences to your family and friends. Fly high with the angels Shirley until we meet agin. Rest eternal Grant unto her O Lord and let light perpetual shine upon her.

From the time Shirley became my Dad’s secretary in the 1950s until right this minute and beyond, she inspired me with her wit and wisdom. A piece of my life has been torn away with her passing but I am comforted that she is now at peace.

So sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. I first met Shirley when I was sixteen years old, she interviewed myself and six of my colleagues for a job with H.O House and Company. In the past years I was fortunate enough to reconnect playing bridge with her. She was a lovely lady and will be missed very much. Warwick Buckingham and Barbara Hynes

Shirley contacted me to pay her a visit when she was at Daffodil House recently while undergoing cancer treatments. We spent the time remembering a long ago time when I was a child. For several summers, starting with one where I had my wrist in a cast, I would spend several days visiting with Aunt Olive and Shirley at the old Petley house next to the present Petley Street. At that time there was an active hen house behind the house. A narrow “bridge” went across O’Rourke’s Brook which divided the property. Sometimes there were some strawberries to find over there. I always checked. The train travelled along the very back of the land and always needed to be watched with waves exchanged with the passengers. There was an old Grimm’s Fairy Tale book with some very scary stories. I never did get the nerve to open the door to the attic in the upstairs hallway. Shirley and I shared a few laughs at my memories of those times. We both knew it would likely be our last visit together. I shall treasure that memory along with those from the older times. To Shirley We come to life with a kick and a scream gulping the air of our new environment Tiny spirits inside such small vessels We journey with friends experiencing and touching all that life offers Deep Anam caras and other light touches And then the time comes and we exit back into the stardust Tiny spirits escaping used vessels to move freely through the veil. Fly free, my friend. KGO
