I worked alongside Roger at Vale, for many years, as a Geologist. He was always keenly interested in just about everything. He was an avid reader and life long learner, by going to ight classes at Laurentian University and finally achieving his Masters degree in engineering. That's quite a feat!! Roger befriended just about everyone that he worked with, due to his endearing personality and enthusiasm. He was humble, kind, thoughtful and an honest, hard worker. Honestly, I dont know how he found the time to travel so much of the world with his son Andrew, as a well as work on his 2nd degree and hold down a good job at Vale, let alone volunteer his time at the Sudbury Canoe and Water Sports Centre. He was a special person indeed. I cant believe that he has passed! He will be missed by us all. Sincerely, Dan Cooper

To Rogers family, My husband Gilles worked with Roger at Vale. We recently ran into him at the Foreigner concert in October in Sudbury. We had a great chat & invited him & Andrew to drop by when they had a chance. Well, they did the next day! Had a nice visit & I filled heir pockets with Hallloween chocolate bars when they left! They joined us for our 50th bday party a few years ago & had fun with them at the Vale Christmas dinner, where Andrew said Grace. We take comfort in knowing he passed doing what he loved most, traveling with his son & best friend, Andrew, listening to him sing karaoke. He will be missed by all his family & friends, especially Andrew. Gilles & Laurie Labelle

Our condolences to Andrew and Roger's family, on behalf of the Sudbury Canoe Club. Roger was a longtime member and volunteer for the Sudbury Canoe Club. He served on our board as one of our Windsurfing co-chairs for several years; in addition to instructing windsurfing to SCC members. We will miss Roger, and his laughter and friendly presence at the Sudbury Canoe Club. His legacy will live on in his love for the sport of windsurfing that he passed on to the members at the SCC. "Windsurfing is awesome!" - Roger Jackson, at every board meeting. Ian McIvor SCC Commodore

My condolences to family and friends. My memories of Roger are mostly all of him laughing, his smile and genuine interest in everything. I've known Roger since he joined our Geology Dept at Inco. Over the years we became good friends through work, soccer, dragonboating, a few parties inbetween. Roger would often drop by with Andrew whether in his car, motorbike, etc. We'd talk and laugh each time, his laugh always a deep belly laugh. I had the good fortune of working with him a number of times over the years, he was always very respectful of all with whom he worked. He enjoyed the challenges, met them head on with creative ideas and solutions. Roger was a great friend but was a greater father. He spoke often of his trips with Andrew, took him to more places than I'll ever see. I enjoyed seeing the many pictures of the amazing places and times they shared. He stopped by not long after his purchase, the beautiful copper coloured Porsche. He was never boastful even then, just happy to share his story of his travel to Ft. Mac to see his sister Vi and family that he happened to pick up this set of wheels. He spoke dearly of them and enjoyed being able to spend some time with them. He was looking forward to his trip to Punta Cana with Andrew, to enjoy the beach, beer, food and karaoke. When I think of Roger, it will be of him on the beach, beer in hand, a smile on his face. RIP buddy.
