It is with profound sadness that we received news of the passing of our dear Aunt Floss. Aunt Floss has always been seen as a woman of great wisdom, incredible faith, as well as a fun and caring soul. She has most certainly been a voice of reason and compassion in difficult times and a reservoir of knowledge regarding many things. She will most notably be remembered for her steadfast service to her church and the community at large. She will also be remembered for her lovely sense of humor and was always fun to be around. Aunt Floss touched the lives of so many in a profound way and for that she is deeply loved and respected by all who had the privilege of meeting her. Given her immense desire to be involved in all things, no doubt she has already taken on a multitude of assignments that will improve and enlighten the souls arounds her. She will be sadly missed.

Thinking about you Gloria (Dave) and sending our deepest sympathies to all the family. Carl and I had the pleasure of meeting ‘Aunt Floss’ (Willis) a number of years ago; and shared in one of their special Anniversaries. We also had a game of 120’s of course! What a pleasure, honour, and delight to be in their company. What a life, and a wonderful legacy left behind. Rest in Peace. ❤️

In the early morning hours of April 13th, a heavenly glow from the angel’s halos filled the night sky as God had called another Angel home! A humble woman who spent her life dedicated to service of her community, God her father, and family. From teaching in the one room school, which required the walking down around shore in grip of January’s frosty grasp, to playing the church organ in the house of her Heavenly Father for 60 plus years. She never questioned why but did what required doing with a smile. You were a stranger in her home but once, for when you crossed the threshold you became engulfed in her warmth which like embers in the wood stove radiated throughout her home. Never fret, there is always a pot of tea, a slice of home made bread toasted crowned with homemade jam. If you were lucky and worthy she would entertain you with a recitation or two. It is then that you recognize you are in the presence of a truly special person. The water marks are not from rain but tears I shed. Tears of joy and of sorrow. Tears of joy because Aunt Floss is now with her Heavenly Father and reaping her just rewards. Tears of sorrow because I will no longer be able to hug her, share a cup of tea or bear witness to a special person going about her humble life. I love you. Derek

Sincere condolences to all of Floss's family. I have many wonderful memories of her from my time in the parish, especially as catechist for two years. She was a major part of the Parish of White Bay, and in particular the congregation at Jackson's Arm. She had many talents, and she was always willing to share them in the life of the church, such as parish treasurer, organist, vestry, parish council, synod, and so much more. I have always been kept up-to-date on how she's been doing by her niece Gloria here i nthe parish of St. Philip. She was a fine lady, and will not soon be forgotten, what a priviledge she had to live more than 103 years, and what a blessing to her family to have her so long. She was a woman of immense faith, and that faith sustained her all these years, and now she is home, in the nearer presence of God, for which we say, Alleluia, the Lord has risen, the Lord has risen indeed, Alleluia!.
