Aunt Lil and family, We are so very sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle Russ. Please know that our hearts go out to you during this difficult time. We want to convey our deepest sympathy to all of you. Uncle Russ truly lived a long and great life, and he will be remembered fondly for the many memories he leaves behind. We wish we could be there with you all right now, but please know that we are thinking of you and holding you all close in our thoughts. Lil and Reid family, I am saddened to hear of Russ’s passing. My families thoughts and prayers are with you all through these tough times. We wish we could be there to grieve along side your family and provide support where possible. Unfortunately, we are out of the county not being able to make it back in time for his viewing nor funeral service. I would like to share some of my memories of Russ. I am only going to share a couple as I have quite a few. Like many people have previously stated, Russ was a kind sole with a calming demeanour that did not go unnoticed. My memories of Russ start back to my childhood days. Some of the fondest memories which Russ and I often reminisced were; going through Eugene’s septic tank with his old green Mack pallet truck; the explosion of his oxy- acetylene tank hoses in his garage (I could hear his chuckle now as he described me making a mad dash to get out of that garage.) When I returned home for summer vacations, I always made an effort to stop in for a chat. He would always light up and in good newfie fashion mix both of us a whiskey and say “ now sit down and tell me some army stories”. Russ you will be missed, may you rest in peace. Dear Lil and family, we are so sorry to hear of Russ’s passing. We were happy to have had a visit with you both on our last visit and will remember his stories of his children and grandchildren. Told with love and pride. Heather also remembers his stories at Pop’s house about Nan and Pop when they were young and of Grandfather Reid. Russ always had a big, lovely smile that filled his face. We will remember that as well and maybe we all should try to smile like that.
