I grew up with Terri-Lynn and have so many fond memories of her dad. Two that always come to mind are when we were around 7 or 8 years old. On April Fool’s Day, he called the house and said, “Amy, do you see the horse coming down the road?” To preface this, we lived in town, so there was absolutely no chance of a horse coming down the street! Of course, I ran straight to the window and saw nothing. I went back to the phone (because it had a cord) and he was laughing so hard. He was such a funny guy and was always looking for ways to make us laugh.
Another memory that came back was when we had a BBQ when we were kids. Dad and Mr. Carberry had a couple of beers, and he ended up falling asleep in the recliner. Mrs. Carberry looked at my mom and said, “Well, I’m going home,” and left him sleeping in the chair and headed home lol! On that same occasion, he had brought mushrooms for the BBQ and wanted them left cooked whole. Mom didn’t know and cut them up — was he ever mad! Looking back now, these stories just make me smile.
These funny little moments and memories are things I’ll carry with me for a long time. My heart goes out to everyone during this difficult time, and my thoughts are with you all.
RIP Mr. Carberry xoxo
