Service of remembrance

A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, October 15th, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Curling with Reverend Cynthia Haines Turner officiating. Following the church service, please join us for a reception at the Curling Lions Club from 3 - 5:00 p.m.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Pye announce his passing on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 at Western Memorial Hospital at the age of 75 years.  Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories; his loving wife of 48 years, Laura (nee Porter); two daughters, Lorelee Porter (Glenn McCarthy), New Brunswick, and Charlene (Shawn) Hemsley, Massey Drive; three precious grandchildren: Brandon (Tara) Porter, Teagan and Tanner Hemsley; two precious great grandchildren, Jared and Levi Porter; sisters: Laura (Stewart) Pye, Hazel (Heber) Oldford; brothers, Malcolm (Verna) Pye, Christopher (Rita) Pye, Philip (Judy) Pye and Anthony (Josephine) Pye; sisters-in-law: Carol (Terry) Skeard and Yolanda (Brian) Brake; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, especially those from the Curling Lions Club and his Card buddies.Predeceased by his baby daughter Denise; parents Cecil and Viola Pye, mother and father-in-law John (Ned) and Roberta Hussey; special nephew Darius and special niece Tammy.The family would like to extend a very special Thank you to the Doctors and Nurses on 3B, the Intensive Care Unit and Palliative Care for their great care and compassion.Granting his wishes, cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium  with a Service of remembrance to be held after Covid restrctions are lifted. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lion Max Simms Memorial Camp or  the Lion Seeing Eye Dog program, by sending donations to the  Curling Lions Club, 215 Petries Street, Corner Brook, NL A2H 3M4.
