Obituary of Albertha Elizabeth Morris (Card of Thanks)

Please share a memory of Albertha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with our most heartfelt appreciation that as a family we want to say thank you; Thank you to those who called to express your sympathy as well as share stories of Alberta. To those who made food, brought cards of sympathy, visited, attend the funeral service, and many other countless things we want to say Thank You.  In times of deep grief and sadness those are the things that matter the most and your acts of kindness will never be forgotten by the Morris family.

A special thank you to Reverend Norman Cutler and Reverend Terry Rose for officiating a beautiful service for Albertha. Also, to all the staff of Fillatres funeral home your professionalism and care executing Albertha’s beautiful funeral service will not be forgotten.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to the ladies of the ACW from St. Georges Parish for their beautiful honour guard send off for Alberta. It was something she would’ve been truly appreciative of. We have to assume she would have been watching over you all, smiling with pride.

Also, another special note of thanks to all of the staff at Bay St. George long-term care center for taking such wonderful care of our mother and grandmother. You are all such lovely, caring and devoted staff and we really appreciated everything that you did for Albertha.

And lastly, a special note of thanks to Maxine Meade for everything that you’ve done over the years for Albertha as well as in the last couple of months since her passing. Your thoughtfulness will never be forgotten by us.

With many thanks,

The Morris Family

We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of our mother and grandmother, Albertha Elizabeth Morris, who passed away peacefully on September 9th , 2021 at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing, NL.

Albertha was born on June 16th, 1933 to parents Clyde and Annabelle of Jeffrey's (predeceased).  Albertha is survived  and leaves to mourn with many precious memories, her beloved and devoted son, Wayne (Karen), grand-daughters Ophelia and Rebecca (Stefano), great-grandsons  Matthew, Christopher, Luca, and Marco, brother David (Betty) of Cartyville, Roy (Marg) of Oshawa, sister Gwen (Wally) of Jeffrey's.  She is predeceased by her loving husband Sidney, sisters  Juanita, Diana, Sylvia and brothers Delwin, Kevin and Fred.

In her younger years, Albertha was dedicated to the Anglican Church and a proud member of the ACW.  She loved to cook, bake, knit, sew and garden.  She was happiest cooking a big meal on Sundays after Church and serving the family.  She adored her only two grandchildren Rebecca and Ophelia, and her great-grandchildren, "the boys" Matthew, Christopher, Luca and Marco.

It was only a short time ago, this past Spring, she lost her busband and lifelong partner of 67 years, Sidney.  It is often said that once one passes, the other loved one won't  be far behind and this is a true case.  Since April 5, a part of her heart has been missing since he passed.  Now, they are together again, in heaven.  Two souls at peace, watching over us here on earth.  Together again for their 68th  wedding Anniversary on September 23rd.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved in memory.   A special thank you to Albertha's sister-in-law Maxine Meade for her many loving visits to long term care especially during Covid restriction times.  Many thanks and appreciation to Bay St. George Long Term Care for their excellence in professionalism and personal care for Albertha.  As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to St. George's Anglican Church Memorial Fund.

A service will be held at St. George's Anglican church  Wednesday, September 15th,  2021 at 2 pm. with Rev. Norman Cutler officiating.  Prior to the service, a viewing will be held from 1 - 2 pm..  Burial to follow at St. George's Anglican cemetery.
