Obituary of Patricia Frances Giles (CARD OF THANKS & FUNERAL SERVICE)
The family of the late Patricia Frances Giles (nee Payne) would like to thank everyone who gave their gift of time to comfort and support her during her end of life journey. Thank you for the lovely visits, phone calls, cards, delicious food, thoughts, prayers, flowers and donations to the Western Region Cancer Clinic. She appreciated your kindness immensely. A special thank you to the Canasta ladies, who shared their love of friendship, good times and card games.
Thank you to the nursing staff at Western Memorial Hospital who provided excellent care during her stay. The staff were truly devoted to providing quality comfort and care. As a family, we appreciate your hardwork and dedication to your profession.
Also, a special thank you to the Palliative Care team, Dr. Farzaneh, Dr. Lafferty, Dr. Dunne, and Michelle King for their guidance and support during a very difficult time.
A service will be held in Cow Head at the St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church on Thursday, July 27th, 2023 at 2:00pm. After the service, a reception will be held at the church hall.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Patricia Frances Giles announce her passing on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit at the age of 69 years. Patricia was a kind and caring teacher and social worker. Her career as a teacher took her to Harbour Breton, Mud Lake, Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Cottrell’s Cove. As a social worker she served in Corner Brook, Norris Point, Labrador City-Wabush, Stephenville Crossing and in the Communities on the North Coast of Labrador. She enjoyed her work with many colleagues, students and clients over many years in NL. She felt blessed to have lived the life she lived. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 50 years Robert Giles; children: Sarah (Mark), Susanne (Joe) and Charles; grandchildren: Hannah, Sadie and Zoey; brothers and sisters: Clayton (Patsy), Eura (Marcelle), Keith (Anne), Karen (Jan), Marilyn (Wayne) and Glenda (Barry); brother-in-law Lewis (Barb); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. She was predeceased by her parents Eddie and Cora Payne, parents-in-law Charles and Hazel Giles and sister-in-law Cynthia White. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Saturday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held later this summer in Cow Head. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to Western Region Cancer Centre, Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation. A very special thank you to nursing staff at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Dr. Farzaneh, Dr. Dunn, Dr. Lafferty and her caregiver Lori Webb for all your care and compassion.
