Obituary of Earl Wilson Porter (CARD OF THANKS)

Please share a memory of Earl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

We the family of the late Earl Porter would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to our many friends and family who helped ease our sorrow during this difficult time.

We are grateful for the generous tokens of sympathy in the form of donations, flowers, food, cards, phone calls and online messages , visitation to the funeral home and your presence at the funeral.

A special thank you to Rev. Jocelyn Cook and all those who participated in the service, the pallbearers, and Fillatre’s Funeral Home for their professional services and understanding.

Due to the large outpouring of support bestowed upon us it may be impossible to thank everyone individually, but our family is eternally thankful and appreciative of each act of kindness we have received.

February 11, 1948 – September 21, 2023
Corner Brook, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Earl Wilson Porter announce his sudden passing on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at his residence in Corner Brook at the age of 75 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Yana Porter (George Byrne) and Dean Porter (Jennifer Watton); grandchildren: Brooke and Jack Watton; brother Glynn (Carol) Porter; sisters: Ruth (John) Dyke and Judy (Rick) Drover; sisters-in-law: Shirley Porter and Debbie Holmans; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Paula Porter (nee Holmans), parents Egbert and Verena Porter, brother Keith Porter, parents-in-law Jerry and Phyllis Holmans, brother-in-law Bud Holmans.

Earl was a quiet, kind hearted gentle man, who kept us all laughing with his never ending stories from his youth. He was an avid camper, enjoyed the outdoors, especially salmon fishing, loved watching curling and adored his family.

Earl was a Past Master of Lodge Lomond # 1421 of Scottish Constitution and a Past Master of Lodge Lomond #32 . He received the Grand Lodge Rank of Past Junior Deacon ( Hon.) in 2014, and was a Past President of the Long Range Shrine Club.
