Gerald William Humber
January 8, 1939-January 26, 2025
It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of Gerald William Humber, on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 86.
Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 64 years Robina, loving children daughter Brenda (David Hickey), son Darren Humber (Theresa). He was a proud and loving grandfather of Deanna and Stephen Hickey and Gerry Humber; great grandfather to Katie, Jaydan, Kalan & Shae Lynn and Faith.
Gerald was the last living member of his family, a position that made him a treasured connection to family history. He was predeceased by parents Albert and Mariam Humber, brothers Reginald, Harold, Cyril, Donald, and Ronald; sisters: Dorothy, Melissa, Ivy, Roseanna, Ella and Elsie; Mother and father-in-law Robert and Marjorie Baker, brothers-in-law Edward and Moses; sisters-in-law Alma, May, Susie and Linda.
Also leaves to mourn brother-in-law Franklin, Clayton and sister-in-law Violet, Myrtle, Anne, Dulcie, Ruth and Sandra and their families.
Gerald was a devoted family man who cherished his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His family was the center of his world, and he found immense joy in the love and connection they shared. Gerald also treasured the friendships he built with his neighbors and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on all who know him.
A man of remarkable work ethic, Gerald began his career at a young age, leaving school to cut and haul wood to the mill with a team of horses. Over the years, he took on a variety of roles, from running his own landscaping business to working construction and even assisting with building relocations. In retirement, Gerald returned to landscaping, working alongside his nephews, Eric and Fred. His dedication to family, friends and his work made him a beloved figure in the lives of many. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home 218 Curling Street Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 30, 2025 at St. Ambrose Anglican Church in John’s Beach at2:00 pm with Reverend Effie Organ officiating. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
