July 7 1945 – Feb 8 2025

 

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Lottie Amelia Childs (nee Sheppard) announced her peaceful passing on February 8th, 2025 at the age of 79 years old in Corner Brook, NL.

Leaving to mourn her husband Norman of 63 years, daughters Darlene, Ivy (Morris), Donna (Monte). Grandchildren Jodine (Stephen), Natasha (Mark), Roderick (Cassie), Kayla, Danielle (Shawn), Brittany (Dave), Jacinta (Chris), Justin, and Tyler (Vyktorya). The light of her life, her great grandchildren James, Jack, Elisha, Cadence, Avery, Aliya, Charlotte, Cali, Rowan, Randy, Aneurin, Georgia and Kate. Sisters and brothers Phyllis (Eugene), Bernard, Hilda (Albert), Joan (Gord), Greg (Debbie), and Ronda. Sister and brother in laws Lawrence, Alice, Thelma, Elizabeth, Elsie, Rhodena (Max), Clarence (Joan), Gertrude (Hector), Thomas (Sharon), John (Lisa), Jane (Calvin),  Howard (Sheila), Terry (Tracey), Max (Marjorie), Nelson (Donna) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Lottie was predeceased by her parents Everette and Eva Sheppard, son Lyndon, grandson Ryan. Sisters and brothers Ena (Clyde), Sybil (Frank), Melvin, Doris (Ivan), Gordon, Harvey, and baby brother Ross. Parents in law Thomas and Melina Childs. Sisters and brothers in law Jean, Cecil, Wilson, Ralph, Calvin, Terrance, Judy and many nieces and nephews.

For 40 plus years Lottie was an active member of our community from being on the York Harbour council, recreation committee, chaperoning dances, running bingo and much more. If she was not volunteering in the community, you could find her in the flower garden or walking the York Harbour beach collecting glass.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Dr. Murphy, Dr. Fudge, staff of the dialysis unit and palliative care unit. Big thank you to her special home care workers Margie and Brenda.

Visitation will take place on Monday, February 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm from St. James Church in Lark Harbour. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 11th, at 2pm with Reverend Effie Organ officiating,  interment will be held at St. James Cemetery at a later date.

Flowers graciously accepted. Donations can be made in Lottie’s memory to St. James Church in Lark Harbour or a charity of one’s choice.
