It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Wilfrieda Swyers on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital at the age of 82 years.

A wife, mother, sister and friend. She led her life with devotion, understanding, kindness and compassion.  Wilfrieda is held deeply in the hearts of many.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son Raymond (Kathy); daughter Ruby (Phonse); grandchildren:  Crystal, Paige, Josh, Ashley, Bailey, Randi, Katie, Anthony, Kody, Jake, Travis and Caleb; great-grandchildren: Isabella, Ivan, Jordan, E.J., Keith, Jamiah, Josiah, Judea; brothers:  Pat (Lillian), Leo (Barb), Wallace (Larry), Martin; sisters:  Julianne (Marshall), Edna, Laverne, Vina; sisters-in-law: Debbie & Alice; brother-in-law  Eugene.

Wilfrieda was pre-deceased by her parents Onesime Benoit and Mary White; her husband Neil Swyers; son Melvin Swyers; great-granddaughter Janiah; brother Allan; brothers-in-law:  Calvin, Brian, Brendon, Gerald, Freddy & Jim; sisters-in-law:  Joanne, Lorraine, Marjorie.

Respecting Wilfrieda’s wishes, cremation has taken place. 

Service on Friday, February 14, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, St. George’s, with Fr. Edmund Dantes officiating.

Funeral Arrangements has been entrusted with Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL.
