Obituary of Hilda Hutchings

Hilda Hutchings
October 12, 1945 – February 9, 2025

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Hilda Hutchings (nee Green) passed peacefully away with her loved ones by her side on Sunday, February 9^th 2025, at the Corner Brook Long Term Care in her 79^th year.

Leaving to mourn with loving memories her husband of 53 years, Neil; children Greg (Janice), Lynn (Rick), Lana (Everett), and Lori (Greg); grandchildren Larry, Dion, Kaitlyn, Jade, Charles, Ella, and Ryan; great grandchildren whom she adored, Jordyn and Josie; sisters Vera (Wilfred), Linda (Fred); brothers Wilson (Marilyn) and Larry; brothers-in- law Bill, Wilson (Linda), Eric, and Graham. 

Hilda was predeceased by her children Larry and Mary; parents Freeman and Aveline; parents-in- law George and Olga; sisters Melida (Marius), Shirley (Buddy,) (Benney); and sister-in-law Cheryl. 

Her love of baking and making gorgeous quilts (and giving them away) and the love of her collie dogs kept her busy most days. Her last 3 years were quite different, she spent her time always looking for Neil and looking forward to his weekly visits as did the residents and staff of 2 South. Hearing the wonderful stories and sharing our tears with the staff this past week, we know how much she was loved. We appreciate your kind and tender care given to her more than ever can be shown.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from the hours of 2 – 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake.
A funeral service will be taking place at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, 21 Farm Road, Deer Lake on Friday, February 14^th at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Jeffrey Petten officiating. An interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery on Farm Road.
