From his teenage years, he was always passionate about the importance of forestry and nature. As a young man, he left his hometown in Badger, Newfoundland to assist in combatting wildfires with Newfoundland Forest Services and later went on to University of Moncton, School of Forestry where he studied and pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry and Forest Management. He was employed with the College of Trades and Technology in St. John’s, Newfoundland and College of the North Atlantic in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, where he was a lifelong educator teaching young adults the importance of and best practices of Forestry, Forest Management and Preservation; his learning and teaching methodologies always focusing on the ecological, social and economic challenges of forest sustainability.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, and as expressions of sympathy, that any donations would be gratefully appreciated to the forest school community in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, at “The Sapling Forest School”. These donations will increase the ability for more year-round programming and help alleviate barriers for marginalized groups and low-income families, so that their children may have more opportunity to participate in children’s camps and programs. These offerings will allow our loved ones’ work to resonate beyond the classroom for generations to come. "A portion of the donations received through the links below will support both Sapling Forest School and Twisted Tuckamore Forest School, helping to expand access across communities. For any questions about how donations will be used, please contact saplingforestschool@gmail.com."
We gratefully acknowledge the medical teams at Advent Health in Zephyrhills and Tampa Florida, along with the amazing comfort and care provided from the staff at the Gulfside Hospice - The Rucki Care Centre in Zephyrhills, Florida.
