Obituary of Austin Clyde Eavis
Austin Clyde Eavis
July 05, 1947 – February 16, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Austin Clyde Eavis announce his passing on February 16th, 2025, after a courageous hard-fought battle with Cancer.
He leaves to mourn with so much pride and love son Darren and his wife Georgette. Brother George (Francis) Brother in-law John, Sister in-law’s Mary (Pius), Beth, Theresa (Oswald), Susan (Dan), Rita and a large circle of Nieces, Nephews and Friends.
Clyde was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Martha, Father John Bowles, Mother Elizabeth Bowles, Brother Russell (Betty) Sisters Hazel (Sam), Susie (Gerald), Louise (Ron), Father In-law Arch, Mother in-law Gert (Granny), Brother in-laws Peter (Theresa), Mike and Kevin.
Clyde was born in Grey River with stopovers in Coppett and Deer Island before settling in Ramea and building a wonderful life. His career took him from the cutting table at the fish plant to John Penny and Sons store to finally spending 40 years working for the Carter family at EL Carter Ltd. until his retirement. Over the years he was very passionate about many things but a few such as family, friendships, hockey, painting and music really stand out. Somewhat of a social butterfly spending time with Family and Friends meant everything to him. Simple things like visits, dances, card games, BBQs etc. brought him immense excitement. If you were his friend for a day, you were his friend for life. His love for hockey started young playing for the Ramea Flyers and spending Saturday nights crowed around a small black and white TV watching his beloved Montreal Canadiens. His love for the HABS never wavered over the years. Mind you at times it was a love hate relationship that sometimes-caused profound cursing and sleepless nights. Always somewhat of an artist he once saw Bob Ross painting on TV and thought to himself, “Gee” I think I can do that. And could he ever!! For years he brought canvases to life with some of the most beautiful and meaningful paintings that brightened walls and households around the world. If anyone ever wondered who sang a song or for that matter wanted a copy of a song he knew or had it. His collection of thousands of records, 8 tracks, cassettes, CD’s and downloads made him Spotify before Spotify was a thing. In recent years the highlights of his Friday and Saturday nights were the live Facebook music broadcasts. Making notes mind you to go and find any songs that he had never heard before and wanted for his collection.
May happiness and smiles shine brightly on everyone that was blessed to know this wonderful man. As he would do, enjoy family and friends, cheer loud, smile at things that brighten your days or walls and sing louder than ever before.
As per Clyde’s wishes, cremation will take place. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from ST. Boniface Anglican Church, Ramea. Interment to follow at St. Boniface Anglican Cemetery, Ramea.
