The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of West Mount Estates where Mom resided for several years and developed many friendships and received exceptional care. A special thank you to Sherri-Lynn Murphy who took Mom under her wing and cared for Mom as if she was family and continued to care for Mom even when she moved into Western Long Term Care. The family also extends thank you to the nurses and staff of Western Long Term Care where Mom spent her last remaining months. The care, compassion and professionalism helped Mom fit right in and enjoy her time there.
During her short time in her new home Mom found a buddy in Esther Kean. Before Mom’s last few moments unknowingly Esther began to play piano (an activity in which they frequented together) as Esther’s playing came to an end very shortly thereafter Mom peacefully took her last breath. Thank you Esther.
Mom instilled a love of laughter and fun in her family and our childhood memories were filled with hilarious moments. She kept her wit and sense of humour until the very end of her life. Innumerable happy memories remain which will be cherished always. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered and celebrated always.
In keeping with Greta’s wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or service at this time. In celebration of Greta’s life, a service and interment entrusted to Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Marks Avenue, Corner Brook will be at a date to be announced. As expressions of sympathy, a donation may be made in Greta’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
