Catherine J. Cochrane
1957 - 2025
Mt. Moriah, NL
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Catherine Cochrane (Kate) announce her passing on March 9, 2025 at the palliative care unit in Corner Brook after less than 24 hours. She leaves to mourn her spouse of 49 years Edward Welshman, her daughter Kimberley (Craig) of mount Moriah and her daughter Carol-Ann (Steve) of Hinckley UK, and her dog Koda. She’s a very proud and loving grandmother to Nathan, Isabelle, and Michael who she still called Nan’s baby. She was especially close to her brother Robert, sister Francis, and sisters in law Carolyn Welshman and Linda Perry. She was one of ten children of Ronald and Lucy Cochrane and predecessed by them both as well as her brother Stanley. She is survived by siblings Francis, Lucy, Robert, David, Maude, Margaret, Doreen, Peter.
Kate was a very kind person who loved a long phone conversation, a home cooked meal, and good laugh. She really was a larger than life personality who spoke her mind and loved laughing. She will always be remembered for loving with all her heart, and passing on her youngest grandson Michaels birthday. She had an immense number of friends and has left us all with very fond memories. She loved Ed for all her life and the last thing she did was squeeze his hand.
She will be missed and remembered, and we’ll soon bring her home just as she asked for. She just wanted to go home and be where she was happiest.
‘What a privilege it is to hurt this much, for you can only hurt so much because you loved so much’
And we loved her as much as she loved us.
