Obituary of Bridget Mitchell

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bridget Sarah Connie Mitchell announce her passing on March 13th, 2025, at the Labrador Health Centre, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL at the age of 64 years.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her four sisters: Lillian, Martha (Ian), Agnes (Cephas), and Georgia (Paul); her five brothers: John (Ann), William (Wendy), Wallace (Carmel), Robert (Morina), and David; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; and a large circle of family and friends.
Bridget was predeceased by her parents: David and Gertrude Mitchell: brothers: Valentine and David; and nephew: David James Hopkins.
We would like to express our thanks to Bridget’s family doctors: Dr. O’Dea and Dr Walsh, all doctors and nursing staff, the FACT workers: Vivienne Reardon and Abbie Pope; and to all staff of the Labrador Health Centre for the care you have given to Bridget in the past months. Many thanks also to Rev Nellie Thomas for your prayers. To Chick O’Neill, Ruby Durno and Amy Earle, friends of Bridget for their visits and help. To Elizabeth Mitchell for officiating the service; to Carmel Mitchell for the eulogy, to Wilma Dyson for being the organist; and thank you to Morina Newman for performing her favorite song. Also, to everyone who has helped, in any way possible, to be there in this difficult time.
A family visitation will be held on Friday, March 14th, 2025, at Fillatre’s Funeral Home from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. A public visitation will be held on Friday, March 14th, 2025, at Fillatre’s Funeral Home from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 15th, 2025, from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL starting at 2:00 pm. Burial will take place immediately following the service at the Moravian Cemetery. Refreshments will be served after the service in the Anglican Church Annex.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
