Obituary of Joyce Isabelle Companion
Joyce Isabelle Companion
January 6, 1938 – March 12, 2025
Halfway Point, NL
With great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our Mom, Isabelle (Joyce) Companion. Joyce is survived by her daughter Lori Anne (Bruce) and their children Matthew, Rebecca, Heather and Julia; her son, Kennth (Lorelie) and their daughter Lynnette and their grandchildren Bryce, Ethan, Jack and Theo; her son Craig and his children Mya and Mackenzie; sisters Maureen (Don) McCarthy and Delores (Derek) Allen; sisters in law Coreen MacInnis; Shirley O’Connell; Judy (George) Clarke; Wayne (Kathleen) Compagnion; Derrick Compagnion; Kerry (Tina) Compagnion and Guy Compagnion; as well as her many nieces and nephews and card and bingo friends.
Joyce is predeceased by her husband Ken, her parents, Bridgett and Frederick Cammie, her sister Mary Hynes and brother-in-law Albert Hynes; and brother Daniel Cammie; brothers in law Gerry O’Connell and Gerry MacKinnis and father-in-law Ralph Compagnion.
She was an educator her entire life and she so strongly believed that there was nothing more precious than a child. She touched so many many families in the Town of Humber Arm South - a primary teacher for 35 years, starting when she was only 16. Joyce and Ken lived a simple quiet life in Halfway Point with their families - always so very happy to see one of their children come up the stairs to see them. Joyce enjoyed her card games in the community - and card nights with her children. She took no mercy when it came to a game of cards!
Joyce had immense faith in God. She humbly lived in her faith and believed with her whole heart that she would be reunited one day with those she loved so dearly that had departed.
Joyce and Ken left an incredible legacy of the importance of family and were a model of how to live a kind, loving and caring life. They will forever be in our hearts.
The family will receive friends from 10-12 noon on Saturday, March 15 at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling street, followed immediately by a private family service and burial .
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
