Rita Davis (Rose)
October 9, 1937 - March 16, 2025
Forteau, NL
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearly loved Mom Rita Davis (Rose) on Sunday, March 16th, 2025, in St. Anthony, Newfoundland.
Rita was born in Flower’s Cove, Newfoundland on October 9th, 1937, to Joseph & Evelyn Rose, she was the second eldest in their family of twelve. Rita moved to Labrador at the age of 16 as a serving girl where she met and fell in love with our father Cecil Davis of L’Anse Amour, and they were married on October 11, 1954. Rita was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt & friend. She was no stranger to hard work and there were not many tasks that she shied away from. She loved to work with her hands as she enjoyed to farm, garden, berry pick, cook, bake and the best part of all of this was sharing with others around her.
Rita dedicated her life to caring and helping others and sharing the love of her Lord and Saviour. Her unwavering faith was evident in every aspect of her life, and she found so much joy in sharing the story of the finished work on the cross at Calvary which she accepted and trusted in March 1971 and never looked back.
Rita was known for her warm smile and gentle spirit; she touched countless lives through her kindness and compassion. Rita has left a memory and legacy that will be forever cherished by her four children Cecil (Bonita); Glenda (Leroy); Chester (Karen) & Lisa (Brad); Grandchildren: Christopher (Shelagh); Andy (Janelle); Kaitlyn; Jeffrey (Skye) & Jax; Great grandson Maverick & Step granddaughter Renee. Siblings: Marion; Harvey (June); Evelyn; Mary; Hazel; Grant (Lena); Wallace & Gloria (Cyril) ; Sister-in-Laws, Jessie Rose; Lettie Rose & Mabel Oxford; nieces; nephews & extended family members. Rita built many long-lasting friendships over the years, and she truly valued and appreciated each and everyone. A special mention to her friends at Labrador Straits Seniors Complex and Shirley Martin.
There will be a time of reflection & singing on Wednesday, March 19 at 7:00PM & the funeral service will take place at 2:00PM on Thursday, March 20, 2:00 PM at English Point Gospel Hall.

Rita’s flight to Labrador for her final days did not go as planned but there was a greater plan when she entered the gates of heaven, and she received her welcome home. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” – 2 Timothy 4:7
