Obituary of Doreen Murrin

Doreen Murrin 
October 13, 1930-March 23, 2025 

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the families of Doreen Murrin announce her passing on March 23rd, 2025 at the age of 94 at WMRH in the Palliative Care unit surrounded by loved ones. 

Doreen was predeceased by her husband Murdock Murrin. Sons, Ivan and Foster, & daughter Gaye. Grandsons Jonathon & Tommy. Parents, Grace & Frances Barnes. Brothers Foster, Joey, & Reginald (Martha) Barnes. Sisters Madeline (Eli) Sheppard & Alice (Augustus) Payne. 

Leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Elgin (Karen), Daisy (Bernard), Melvin (Helene), Brian (Katherine), Veronica, Judy (Rick), Garwin, Denise (David), Anita, Rosie, Adam (Joanne), Cynthia (Tim). 31 Grandchildren, 37 Great grandchildren, 5 Great great-grandchildren and a 6th one on the way. Daughter-in-law Sheila, Son-in-law Fenton and, a large circle of extended family and friends. 

A special thank you to her home care workers for their kindness, care and support and to all of her caregivers during her many stays at the hospital, especially the Palliative Care Unit at WMRH for your phenomenal care and compassion during her last few days. 

Doreen will always be remembered for her kindness, strength, and determination. She was a beautiful mom of 15 children and was most happy when she had her family by her side. She will be forever loved and missed. 

As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted and memorial donations can be made to the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church or a charity of one’s choice. 

Doreen’s visitation will be held at The Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Cox’s Cove Tuesday, March 25 from 2PM-4PM, 7PM-9PM, and Wednesday March 26 from 2PM-4PM, 7PM-9PM. The funeral service will begin at 2PM Thursday, March 27 with interment to follow.
