Garland Augustus Hackett
July 9, 1954 – February 24, 2025
It is with great love and sadness that the family of Garland Augustus Hackett announce his passing at Hospital Joya Playa del Carmen in Mexico on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the age of 70 years.
Garland graduated at Memorial University. He worked as a teacher in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia for most of his career with special needs children. He was such an amazing person, always looking to improve your life in some fashion. He wore many hats to help with many programs. These were some of the things he loved to do, always wanting to improve. He loved and gave with his heart and soul and spent most of his life travelling after retiring.
Garland spoke often of his life, his family and the wonderful way he was brought up as a kid. He loved the Humber Road area. We could continue forever with so many kind and loving stories but the most important was just how much he was very deeply loved.
Leaving to mourn; sister Gloria Christopher. Brother Neville (Jane), sister-in-law Judy Hackett as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents David and Claudine, brothers Marven, David, and brother-in-law Mack.
As per Garlands wishes cremation has taken place and if you wish to donate, to do so to a charity of one’s choice. There is a friends and family guestbook to sign on Fillatre’s website.
