Obituary of James Job Asivak

James Job Asivak was born in Killinek, Nunavut (formerly NWT) on May 15th, 1941. He went to his maker on April 1st, 2025. He lived a full life of 83 years, 10 months and 17 days.
His adopted parents were David and Rosina (Kajue) Atsivik. His siblings are William Annahatak (adopted), Paul Jararuse, Hilda Snowball, and Sophie Keelan.
He was relocated from Killinek to Hebron in August 1946. Then, relocated from Hebron in August 1959. Went to Makkovik for about a year and then settled in Happy Valley-Goose Bay where he worked at Department of National Defence for 25 years.
He was baptized on August 27th, 1944, in Hebron by Brother S. Hettasch. Married to Sarah Harriett Henrietta Tuglavina on December 17th 1964.
James leaves to mourn 8 children: Simeon, Dave (Lynn), Hilda, Jimmy (Renee), Tommy (Florence), Henry, Gerald, and Edna (Julie). Along with 11 grandchildren: Ashley, Cameron, Brittany, Sharon, Bethany, Jamie, Anthony, David, Keyanna, Johnson and Abby. 10 great grandchildren: Lily, Amalia, Charlie, Tommy, Madison, Jacob, Hayzen, Brody, Eva and Jackson. His sisters in Kangiqsualujjuaq, QC (George River): Sophie Keelan (Mike), Hilda Snowball (Norman). His sister-in-law: Andrea Webb, nieces and nephews: Lisa, Susan, Debbie, Darryl, Trevor, Stephanie, and Samantha. And many extended family members and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents: David and Rosina (Kajue) Atsivik; and brothers: Willaim Annahatak (adopted), and Paul Jararuse. And his beautiful loving wife Sarah Asivak who is finally reunited after almost 9 years.
Visitations will be held on Friday, April 4th, 2025, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 5th 2025, from the United Church, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL starting at 2:00 pm with Lay Minister Sophie Ford Gillette officiating. Interment to follow at the Moravian Cemetery.
