Victoria Marion Etheridge (Roberts) passed away on April 1, 2025, at the age of 102, in Lourdes de Blanc Sablon, surrounded by family. Victoria was born in Brador Bay to Susanna Hobbs and George Etheridge on October 4, 1922.

Victoria travelled to Montreal at the age of 16 to spend time with her sister. She eventually began work as a naval inspector at an ammunition plant during WWII. She went to night school to learn how to read and write in the evenings. Upon returning home on the North Voyager, she met her future husband of 62 years, Jack Roberts, a soldier returning from the WWII battles in Italy. Before marrying, she briefly taught school in Brador Bay. The following year, she moved to St. Paul’s River with Jack to start their journey together. Throughout her life, she and Jack worked side by side on Caribou Island and Gresies, preparing cod fish for the market. She sewed, knitted, crocheted, and maintained fishing gear in her past time. During the winter, she joined her friends in the bingo hall.

Her life was filled with music, cooking, and love for her family and friends. She is survived by her children Tony (Cornella), Linda (Laurie), Deanna, Danny, John (Elaine), and Russell (Greta), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Jack, son Garry, infant daughter Carole, grandchildren Gary and Jacob, mother Susanna, father George, and all her beloved siblings.

Victoria’s funeral will be held at St. Peter’s Parish Church in St. Paul’s River on Friday, April 4th, at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be held until Thursday, April 3rd, at 5:00 p.m. At the request of Victoria, the funeral will be followed by a celebration held in the basement of the church, featuring music, dancing, and the sharing of stories, which is open to all who wish to attend.
