It is with great sadness that the family of the late Philip Applin announce his passing on April 6th, 2025, at St. Clare’s Hospital, St. John’s, NL at the age of 81 years with Jamie by his side.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife: Rosanna Applin; children: Pauline (Jim) Hedderson, Todd (Nicole) Applin, Toby (Renée) Applin, Pam (Alexander) Applin, Tony Applin and Jamie Hedderson; grandchildren: Amy (Stefan) Eddison, Maddie (Shaun-Michael) Hedderson, Todd Jr (Toni-Rae) Applin, Corey, Kyle, Alex, Ellie, Jonathon (Maggie) Wolfrey, Cole (Riley) Wolfrey, Heather (Jacob) Brown, Heidi (Segun) Applin; great grandchildren: Neveah, Rylee, Jordyn, Maddison, Lilly, Tyler, Dylan and Ellie; brothers: Harvey, Kirby (Pat); sister: Hazel; and special pet/best friend: Mazie; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Philip was predeceased by his parents: Samuel and Noami ; brothers: Eric (Emily), George (Kit); sisters: Edith (Lloyd), Alma, Vina, May, Ivy; sister-in-law: Lorraine; and brother-in-law: Roy.
Phil was born on August 28, 1943, in Savage Cove and moved to Goose Bay in 1966 before marrying his beloved wife of 58 years, Rosie.
A devoted family man, Phil was a loving and hard-working husband and father. He was best known for being a jokester and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. His silly acts always kept his family laughing and his happiness reverberated through his family who inherited his family-based values. He made his family proud.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 9th, 2025, from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL, starting at 2:00 pm with Rev. Nellie Thomas officiating.
