Obituary of Shirley Petley Frost

SHIRLEY PETLEY FROST
1935- 2025

“Do not go gentle into that good night,

Well into her 90th year Shirley’s light is now spent. She passed away at the Palliative Care Unit of WMRH on April 14th, 2025.  In her own words, “Oh my!”

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Henry (Harry) and Olive Frost nee Petley of Wolviston, England. Raised and educated in England Shirley emigrated to Canada in 1952.

Shirley leaves behind several generations of cousins who will miss her and remember her. She leaves behind friends, co-workers and card players whose lives she enriched with her wit and wisdom, discernment, discretion, dignity and determination. 

She preferred tasteful over flashy.

Heart-felt thanks to Betty and Stelman Flynn, old and new friends and the healthcare workers for their tireless efforts to bring her comfort and wholeness.

Cremation has taken place, visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Thursday, April 17 from 2-4 p.m. The funeral service for Shirley will take place at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Main Street, Corner Brook, NL on Saturday, April 19th , 2025 at 10:30 am with her sparring partner Archbishop Percy Coffin officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.
