It is with great sadness that the family of the late Margaret Lorraine

Stride announce her passing on Friday, April 25^th 2025 at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre, Stephenville Crossing, at the age of 70.

Born August 1^st, 1954 in Baker’s Brook, NL Margaret spent the majority of her working career as a cook at the B.S.G.L T Care Centre. She loved to cook and entertain and loved her family more than anything. Margaret always enjoyed making people laugh with her fun personality and was loved by most anyone in her presence. She was proud of her heritage and her hometown of Baker’s Brook just North of Rocky Harbour and often spoke fondly of her childhood memories as she continued to visit the area frequently after she moved away.

These last couple of years have been a struggle once Margaret was diagnosed with dementia she somehow managed to keep her fun personality throughout the darkest times during this awful disease.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons: Colin Decker (Lorna); Jerry Stride (Kayla): brother Derrick Decker (Irene): grandchildren; Chantel (Iain), Amanda (Greg), Nanny’s girl Ava: great grandchildren: Ethan, Mason, Ryan, Kai and Myla; nephew’s Brian, Bruce, Randy, Shawn; niece Shantel; sister in law Linda; brother in law Allan Stride (Diane) and many other cousins and extended family.

She is predeceased by the love of her life husband Jerry Stride; parents Alexander and Edna Decker;  in laws Peter and Anne Stride; brother and sister in law Reg and Marie Mudge; brother in law Anthony “Tony” Stride.

Visitation will be held  on Monday, April 28^th at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing from 2-4 and 7-9pm.

Funeral service will be held  on Wednesday, April 30^th at 2:00 pm from the All Saints Anglican Church, Stephenville Crossing, with Rev. Kay Osmond, inurnment will follow at the Anglican church cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of NL.

The family wishes to thank her home support workers, her “girls” with Maximum Home Support and the staff at B.S.G.L.T Care Centre for their love, care and compassion during the difficult times.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing .
