Edwin Lewis Marsden
June 5, 1951 - April 28, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edwin Lewis Marsden, who passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, at the Western Long Term Care Home in Corner Brook, at the age 73 years.

Born on June 5, 1951, Edwin, known as Ed, was the youngest in his family and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections.

A man of few words, Ed had an extraordinary gift for humour. Whether it was a well-timed comment or a story shared in his own unforgettable way, he had a remarkable ability to lift spirits and bring smiles to those around him. Known for his kind heart and unwavering loyalty, Ed would do anything for anyone. His gentle nature and quiet, friendly demeanour left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Ed spent much of his life working aboard the lake boats, sailing the Great Lakes for many years. His shipmates became a second family, sharing countless days, months, and years together. When home Ed entertained loved ones with stories from the lakes, filled with humour, unexpected moments, and cherished memories. These stories were an integral part of his life, always told with a grin and a sparkle in his eye.

Although his work took him far away, Ed’s heart never left Ramea, the place he proudly called home. He was deeply proud of his roots and always looked forward to returning home.

Ed was blessed with many special people in his life and held them close to his heart. He is survived by his sister-in-law Betty, who was a constant support over the years; his brother Cecil (Joyce); cherished nephews JM and Brent; and his beloved niece Ann Marie. He also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

He was predeceased by his loving parents, Marie and Nathan; siblings Arthur, Lucy, Marlene, and Harold; sister-in-law Robena; and brothers-in-law Hartley and George. We take comfort in knowing there is a beautiful reunion happening above, with a joyful welcome waiting for him, a gathering filled with laughter, storytelling, and love.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Lanes Irishtown-Summerside, Western Memorial Regional Hospital, and Western Long-Term Care for the kindness and compassion shown to Ed in recent years. Your care meant more than words can express.

Honouring Ed’s wishes cremation has taken place, and interment will be held in Ramea at a later date.

This is not a goodbye, but a heartfelt “see you later,” as Ed sets sail on one last peaceful voyage.
