Obituary of Veronica Mary Myers
Veronica Mary Myers (nee Guineaux) passed peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of May 7th, 2025, with her family by her side, holding her hand, surrounded by love
Veronica was born on January 5th, 1935 in Castor River North and moved to Corner Brook at the age of 16 years. There she met the love of her life, John Myers, who predeceased her in July of 2020. John & Vonnie were married on June 5th, 1958 and were married for 62 years. She was also predeceased by 3 young children, John, Rodney and Maureen
They did everything together including camping, playing cards and enjoying life’s adventures. Veronica, also lovingly known as Vonnie, Von and Curly, was an avid seamstress, loved to knit and made the best homemade bread.
She leaves to mourn 3 daughters, Elaine (George), Darlene and Jackie (Craig). She adored her 7 grandchildren, Tonya, Lisa, Jennifer, Adam, Troy, Brady and Riley, plus 8 wonderful great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her sisters and brothers in law, Helen and Leo Myers and Kitty McCarthy, as well as a big circle of nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Eileen & Garland Hurley.
She may have been short in stature but she had a big personality and a great sense of humor. She loved nothing more than sitting around sharing stories that made her laugh until she cried.
Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on St. Mark’s Ave in Corner Brook on Sunday May 11th from 2 – 4 p.m. and again from 7 – 9 p.m. The funeral will take place in the chapel at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on St. Mark’s Ave on Monday, May 12th at 2 p.m. Internment will take place at Mount Patricia Cemetery, followed by a reception at Park West Restaurant on Park St.
The family would also like to send heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and her many friends at Westmount Estates, the compassionate staff at the Palliative Care unit at WMRH and the kind staff at Fillatre’s Funeral Home. We would also like to thank her family doctor, Dr. Kaetan Waghmare, the hospital staff on the 5th Floor and everyone who assisted our Mom in any way.
Donations can be made to the Western Regional Hospital Foundation or the Q’alipu First Nation Band in Corner Brook.
