Albert George Keeping age 88 of Ramea, NL passed peacefully away May 8, 2025 at the Calder Health Centre in Burgeo, NL. 

George was predeceased by the following: parents Cyril and Elizabeth Keeping, sisters Darlene Keeping and Maisie McKay, brothers Jack and Howard Keeping, grandson Joey Keeping, mother-in-law Charlotte "Bessie" Hollingsworth and father-in-law John Hollingsworth; brothers-in-law William, Alexander "Sandy", John and Delbert; sister-in-law Anne.

George leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories the following loving family members: wife June, children George (Betty), Joanne (Randy) and Greg (Linda) as well as siblings Eleanor (Arthur), Evelyn (Late Larry Smith), Beatrice (Edward), Frances (Calvin), Carol (Bill), Lorna (Bob), Rowena (Gary), Della (Milton), Keith (Alice), Norma (Perry) and Darryl (Linda).

George leaves behind his grandchildren Matthew (Calla) and Nicole (Emma) as well as great grandchildren Harrison, Mary, and Stirling; a big family of in-laws; Ethel (Gordon), Katherine, Lois, Donna (Norm), Joe (Marilyn), Robert, Debbie (Weldon), Patricia (Cecil), Danny and John (Rodica). Additionally, left behind are a host of extended family and friends  particularly Marg (Late Guy Hann) and his Peter Strides family. 

George was a retired lighthouse keeper and chartered member of the Lion’s Club who, loved to sing, spin yarns and make people laugh. He was a “ham” who loved being the center of attention and people loved him back. He was an avid hunter, small engine repair guru, creative handyman who could cobble together a fix for anything around the house. He loved to dance with “Pearl,” especially to  the song “Old Time Rock and Roll.” He enjoyed all of these aforementioned things and was also extremely happy and excited when he was on the water hauling up a nice big codfish that could be fried up for dinner. He will be truly missed.

Thank you to the wonderful and caring staff at the Burgeo Calder Health Centre for their professionalism and personal attention to George during his stay. A special thank you as well to his home care team. Barb, Krista, and Dion who went above and beyond for George on many, many occasions and Ken Sheeran for providing the great picture used in this obituary. 

Visitations will be held at St. Boniface Church on Tuesday, May 13 from 2 - 4pm and from 7 - 9pm.

Funeral service will be at 2 pm on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025 from St. Boniface Church with Rev. Deacon Brenda Strickland presiding.
