Brendan Francis Whelan

October 30, 1953 – May 13, 2025

Pasadena, NL

It is with heartbreaking sorrow that the family of Brendan Francis Whelan share the unexpected loss of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and son.

Brendan was born in Pasadena, NL and found success in business while in Fort McMurray, Alberta and in doing so had the pleasure to retire in his hometown of Pasadena and spent time around his loving family.

Brendan enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing. He was a caring and loving man and always made sure his family came first.

He will be missed by wife Mercy Ornum Whelan; loving father to Chad Whelan (Amanda) and Joey; step father to Jom (Kriz); loving brother to Stan (Jane), Jerry (Noreen), Paul (Elaine), Ronnie, Kevin (Jocelyn) and Lorraine (Winston); loving grandfather to Chase Whelan and Jade Parton; loving son-in-law to Flor Ornum; he will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Bride Whelan, brother Joe, sisters Rose and Betty.

A special thank you to doctors and nurses of the ICU at Western Memorial Hospital.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Holy Rosary Parish Centre in Pasadena on Friday from the hours of 1-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Rosary Church, Pasadena with Father Gerard Patry officiating.
