Albert was born in Old Shop, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland, and moved to Corner Brook at the age of 16. He became a well-known and respected figure in the community and developed heartfelt relationships with countless friends, neighbours, and local businesses. Albert was truly a staple in Corner Brook and will be deeply missed by many.
A devoted family man, Al built a beloved cabin at Little Bonne Bay Pond for his family, where they spent countless joyful years together—ski-dooing, moose hunting, fishing, snaring rabbits, cutting wood, swimming, playing darts and cards. Whether working or playing, Albert was always on the go. He was known for his tireless work ethic and his willingness to lend a hand to neighbours and friends alike.
The Newhook family extends their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Birchview House, Western Long-Term Care, in Corner Brook for their exceptional care and kindness.
In keeping with Albert‘s wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or service at this time. A celebration of Albert’s life will be held in August 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honour Albert‘s memory by performing an act of kindness for someone in need – just as he did throughout his life.
Albert will be forever loved, deeply missed, and fondly remembered.
