Obituary of Jerome Alfred O'Dell

Jerome Alfred O’Dell
October 21, 1937 – May 30, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jerome Alfred O’Dell on May 30, 2025 at Labrador Grenfell Health Centre, Forteau, at the age of 87 years.

Jerome Leaves to mourn, his wife of 63 years, Lucy Ann (Normore); Children Marilyn (Joe) Doreen, Melinda (Lionel), Garvin (Rhoda); Sister Sheila (Larry), Aunt Rosalie Cabot; Grandchildren Kent, Grant, Victor, Keith; Great grandchild Regan and a large circle of nieces and nephews.

Jerome was predeceased by his Granddaughter Kendra Pike; Parents Cyril and Minnie O’Dell, along with 8 brothers and 1 sister.

Jerome worked for DFO for 33 years until his retirement, having taken over the position after his father retired. During this time Jerome worked at home in Labrador and on the island, meeting a lot of people who he became instant friends with – some friendships lasting to this day.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Curtis Memorial Hospital, St. Anthony and Forteau Centre, as well as his homecare workers for the great care they provided him.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Labrador Parish, Sunday June 1, 2025, from 7:00PM – 9:00 PM. Funeral service will take place Monday June 2, 2025, at 2:00PM at Our Lady of Labrador Parish with Father Alphonsus Iloekwe officiating. Interment to follow the funeral service at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Pinware.
