Obituary of Olive Georgina Toope

Olive Georgina Toope (Perrett)

April 23, 1942 – June 1, 2025

Mt. Moriah, NL

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Olive Georgina Toope on June 1, 2025 at WLTC Palliative Care Unit at the age of 83. 

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her three children; sons Clifford (Geraldine), Robert, and daughter Darlene. Grandchildren Stephen, Adam, Kyle, Patrick, Jennifer and Robyn. Great grandchildren Marcus, Emily, and Greyson. Brothers Bill (Mary Jo), John (Dorothy), George (Pat), Eric (Lana). Sisters Doris, Joyce (Paul), and Chris (Lloyd). Sisters in-law Joyce, Lida, and Josephine. Also, fondly remembered by a large number of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Special thank you to her niece Vicky Rideout for her continuous support during her illness.

She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Douglas Toope, parents Thomas and Bessie Perrett, parents-in-law Henry and Maryann Toope, brothers Donald, Tom, Ralph, and Bernard. Sister Joan Butt.Brothers-in-law Eric Parsons, Ray Butt, Henry Toope, Stanley Toope, Eli Toope (Edith), Clifford Toope, and Walter Toope. Sisters-in-law Jane (Bob) Seaward, Lizzy (Jack) Knee, Anita (Roland) Pittman, Grace (Gerald) White, and Stella (Gerry) Woodland.

A very special thank you to Dr. Tim Griffin and the girls at the Broadway Family Health Clinic for their compassion and care over the last 16 years. We will always be grateful for the care and support you provided our mother. 

Special thank you to Dr. Ryan and the staff “her guardian angels” of the WLTC Palliative Care Unit for their unwavering dedication, your empathy and kindness made a significant difference during a difficult time. 

As per mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and family may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home at 218 Curling Street on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 5th, 2025 at 11 am with Reverend Cynthia Haines-Turner officiating at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street. Burial will follow at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Cemetery, Curling Street. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted and memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
