Obituary of George Wilfred Bowles

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Wilfred Bowles of Ramea who passed peacefully at home with his wife by his side at the age of 89.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 66 years Frances, his children Doreen and Sam, his pride and joy his grandchildren Cheryl (Elroy), Kayla, Kelsey (Chris), great grandchildren Kylee, Charity, Georgia, Emily and Connor.

Also leaving to mourn are his brother and sister in laws, Stephen (Sarah), Theresa (Herb), Alvin (Susie) and Mildred. A large circle or nieces, nephews and friends and his home care workers Delilah, Daisy and Stella who took great care of him.

George is pre-deceased by his parents John and Charity Bowles, step mother Elizabeth, brother Clyde (Martha), sisters Louise (Ron), Susie (Gerald), in laws Walter and Annie Carter, brother in laws Reuben, Jack and Samuel.

George was born in Coppett and moved to Ramea to work at the age of 16 where he met his wife and built a life he loved. He was a Jack of all trades working as a fisherman, fish plant worker and doing woodworking. He was best known for his paddle making and being the town barber. He loved to dance, play cards, spend time with friends but mostly he enjoyed being with his family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at St. Boniface Anglican Church, Ramea, from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. with Deacon Brenda Strickland officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
