Obituary of Nellie Madeline Larkham

With saddened hearts, the family of the late Nellie Madeline (Stone) Larkham announces her peaceful passing on 27 June 2025, at the age of 80 years, in her own home, surrounded by her family.

Left to remember her with love and cherished memories are her husband of 55 years, William Larkham (Sr); daughter Tammy (Rodney); sons Trevor (Patsy), Hayward (Alicia), and William (Jill); grandchildren Shelly (Vance), Travis, Trevor, Megan (Charles), Jessica, William M., Madison, Melissa, Anna, and William L. (Jr); and great-grandchildren Sonya, Layla, Paige, Parker, and Greyson.

Nellie was born in Henley Harbour to Walter and Agnes Stone. After becoming a schoolteacher, she moved to the Labrador coast, where she met her husband and settled in William’s Harbour, where they raised their family.

Mom was best known for running the local grocery store, keeping a clean home, and ensuring everyone’s bellies were full. After raising her family, her caregiving did not end—she lovingly cared for her in-laws, Dorcas and Charlie Larkham, in their own home until they passed away.

Visitation will take place at the Anglican church in Port Hope Simpson, Labrador, on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, from the hours of 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at the Anglican Church in Port Hope Simpson, on Sunday, June 29th, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gail Thoms officiating.

Our family would like to express heartfelt thanks to her homecare workers, especially Marjorie, who has been by her side over the past few years. They made it possible for us to keep her at home until the end. We also extend special thanks to the nursing staff at the Port Hope Simpson Clinic, especially Joanne, for her personal touch. All your after-hours care and hard work have not gone unnoticed.
