James “Jim” Isreal Bowles
July 9, 1936 – June 26, 2025
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of James Isreal Bowles. Jim passed peacefully at the age of 88 in Corner Brook, NL, with his loving family by his side. He was loved at Corner Brook Long Term Care facility by all the kind-hearted and determined workers. They even nicknamed him “Pop”.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Marjorie nee Hayman, his five daughters: Mary (Gerard), Annie (Cliff), Loretta (Junior), Rowena (Jack) and Lisa (Mike). His six grandchildren: Gavin (Abbie), Michelle (Kent), Jennifer (Charles), Geoffrey, Kerri (Shane) and Alison (Devon). As well as his six great grand children. His loving sister Annie and many nieces and nephews.
Jim is predeceased by his parents Mary Ann and Frank and Susie and John Eavis. His brother Wilfred Bowles. Brother in laws Cyril Keeping, Garland Hayman, and sister-in-law Annie Benoite (Phillip) Benoite.
Jim was born in Coppett and moved to Ramea at a young age. He spent his life working on fishing skiffs, longliners, and trawlers, until he retired. He loved to play cards, spend time on his boat, moose hunt and berry picking. He spent many hours spending time with friends at the slips and stages. He was an active member of the Orange Lodge and the Anglican Church, where he helped ring the bell and picking up collections. Jim was well known for his kindness and generosity towards everyone he knew, everyone loved and adored him very much. Jim also had such a strong love for animals.
As per Jims wishes, cremation has taken a place. Visitation will take place Saturday June 28, 2025, at the Anglican church in Ramea from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Funeral service will take place on Sunday June 29, 2025, at 2:00pm with Deacon Brenda Strickland officiating, taking place at the Anglican church in Ramea.
