Obituary of Linda Darlene Armstrong
Linda Darlene Armstrong
June 16, 1948 – June 30, 2025
With deep love and sadness, we announce the passing of Linda Darlene Armstrong on June 30, 2025, at the age of 77 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. She passed peacefully with her family by her side.
Born on June 16, 1948, Linda lived a life marked by resilience, creativity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She was the proud mother of two children, Jody and Joanna, and poured her heart into raising them with love and compassion.
Before becoming a mother, Linda graduated early from high school, earned her assistant postmaster certification, and attended nursing school. But it was in motherhood where she truly found her calling—determined to give her children a better childhood than she had known. She was the “fun mom” on the block, always creating, crafting, and making everyone feel welcome. She had a gift for making or fixing just about anything.
Linda was intelligent, strong, and endlessly curious. A lifelong learner, she returned to college later in life to work toward a degree in music, teaching herself to play the piano and baritone. She was a member of the Grande Prairie Marching Band and toured parts of Canada, embracing every opportunity to grow and experience new adventures.
Linda loved to talk. Whether with friends, family, a neighbour on the street, or a stranger in the store, she had a knack for conversation and could turn the smallest chat into something meaningful. Her stories, humour, and warmth drew people in and made them feel seen and heard.
Her love for animals was a defining part of her life. As a dedicated volunteer with Kitty Kat Rescue in Port Saunders, she fostered countless kittens and cats, offering each one a safe and loving start. Her connection to animals was deep and natural.
For the past 18 years, Linda made her home in Port Saunders, where she found peace and joy living by the water. She cherished her house on the shore—feeding the gulls, strolling to the Little Red Chip Wagon, and enjoying every local church sale. She was a proud and enthusiastic Nana to her grandchildren—Jayden, Colton, and Skylar—who brought her immense joy and purpose. Her countertops were always lined with glass jars of snacks, lovingly offered to her grandkids with gentle insistence.
What she had, she gave. Not always in ways that made sense immediately, but always from her heart and with the simple intention of showing care. You could see it in her fostering of animals, her thoughtful gifting of essentials at Christmas, and her boundless encouragement and unconditional support for her family—small gestures that held great love.
Though she lost her son, Jody, in 1999, she carried that heartbreak with quiet strength, holding his memory close each day.
In her final weeks, Linda was preparing to begin a new chapter on Vancouver Island, where she planned to live with Joanna and continue her life surrounded by family. She held hope for her future—looking forward to quieter days filled with art, music, plants, and the comfort of being close to those she loved.
Linda’s life was one of strength, compassion, creativity, and conversation. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved her—her daughter Joanna; her grandchildren Jayden, Colton, and Skylar; her friends; her chosen sister Lorraine; and the many animals she cared for throughout her life, including Simba, Garfield, Sophia Bella, and Jellybean.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family will celebrate Linda’s life at a later time.
In Loving Memory
Linda Armstrong
