Carl “Bud” Goudie

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Carl “Bud” Goudie announce his passing on July 6, 2025, at the age of 87.

Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth (nee Reid); sons Craig (Joanne) and Jim (Lori); daughter Jennifer Kennedy (Craig); grandchildren Zachary (Laura), Joshua (Stacey), Erin (Adam), Jessica (Adam), Gabriel, Amanda, Kayla (Deon); great-grandchildren Felix, Chanelle, Lou, Jameson, Callie, Paige, Chesley, Tristan, Seth, Celeste, and Oliver; sisters-in-law Cindy Goudie Lapolla, Samantha Reid, Amelia Reid (Margaret), Alvena Reid; brothers-in-law Thomas Reid (Audrey), Clayton Reid (Elizabeth), Benjamin Reid (Judy), Clifford Reid (Jean) and Norman Tucker; special friends Grace and Trevor Lodge; and a large circle of extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his son Paul; parents Carl and Dorothy Goudie; brothers Guy, Terry, Wayne, David; sister Netta Tucker; parents-in-law James and Ida Reid; brother-in-law Ralph Reid; and sister-in-law June Reid.

Bud loved travel and photography and was an avid reader. He volunteered and took leadership roles in numerous community organizations and had a keen interest in current affairs. Most especially he loved his family and treasured his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Lodge Humber, Staff of Western Memorial Regional Hospital Emergency Department and Unit 4A, and Staff of Western Long Term Care Palliative Care Unit.

A visitation will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, July 9^th from the hours of 2 - 4 pm and
7 - 9 pm at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake.
The funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 10^th at 2 pm from St. Paul’s United Church, Deer Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Western Memorial Hospital Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, or St. Paul’s United Church.
