Obituary of Rayfield Benjamin Whalen (CARD OF THANKS)

It is with sincere thanks that the family of the late Rayfield Whalen wish to express appreciation for all the kindness and support during this difficult time. Thank you to all those who visited, telephoned, delivered food and made memorial donations. Thank you to each and everyone.

Thank you to Dr. Griffin for the wonderful care you gave Ray over many years. Thank you to the Palliative Care staff and the Dialysis Unit staff for the care and compassion you provided for Ray.

Thank you Bishop P. Coffin, Rev. Canon T. White, Rev. Monica Coffin, All Saints Choir and Outreach Group for the beautiful church service and all the support you gave to the family.

Thank you to the staff at Fillatre’s for your guidance and compassion.

Every act of kindness didn’t go unnoticed and was greatly appreciated.

Rayfield Benjamin Whalen

December 10, 1945 – July 10, 2025

Corner Brook, NL

It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Rayfield Benjamin Whalen at the Palliative Care Unit at the age of 79 years. Left to mourn his wife Alma (nee Brett) of 56 years; sons: Darren, Paul (Renee) and pop’s pride and joy granddaughters Abigail and Sophie; sister Renee; brothers-in-law: Melvin (Valerie), Bill (Joan) and Brian; as well as a large number of nieces, nephews and family friend Mary Harding.

He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Mabel Whalen, parents-in-law Lewis and Eileen Brett, brother Reginald (Jean), sisters Edna (Gordon) and Ruth (Fred); sister-in-law Rita.

Rayfield was born on Bishops Falls and moved to Corner Brook in 1965 where he worked for Newfoundland Light and Power for 35 years from where he retired.

Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Sunday 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Clarence Street with Rev. Canon Tanya White and The Most Rev. Percy Coffin officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.
