John Anley Dumaresque

John Anley Dumaresque, fondly known as Johnny, passed away at the Labrador South Health Centre, Forteau on July 22, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on June 5, 1945, in Forteau, NL, Johnny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and a dear friend to many.

Johnny began his working life with the Hudson Bay Company in Quebec as a clerk, a position he enjoyed. However, his greatest passion was always the sea. He found true fulfillment as the skipper of his fishing boat, Admiral Point, spending countless hours fishing for cod, scallops, and more. When he wasn’t out at sea, Johnny loved fly fishing on the Forteau River and at Buckle’s Point. Known for his willingness to lend a hand, Johnny was always ready to help his wide circle of family and friends.

Johnny leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Audrey (née Hancock), his son Dion (Deejay), and his daughter Sheena (Jeff). He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Katie and Kelsey; sisters-in-law Joan (Nelson), Mabel, Sandra (David), Jean (Russell) and Louisa; brother-in-law Reg (Brenda); and a large circle of adoring nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Johnny was predeceased by his sons Kirk and Christopher, his parents Lloyd and Lily Dumaresque, brother Melvin, his father-in-law Allan, his mother-in-law Vida, and his nephew Craig Pike.

Family will welcome visitors at St. Peter's Anglican church in Forteau on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, with a family service at 7:30 PM. The funeral will be held on Friday, July 25th at 2:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Kudzaishe Alois Manenji. Interment will follow at the Forteau Anglican cemetery.
