Obituary of Greta Shirley Penney

Greta Shirley Penney (nee Hancock)
March 11, 1944 – July 27, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Greta Shirley Penney (nee Hancock) announce her passing at Corner Brook Palliative Care Unit on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the age of 81.

She leaves to mourn with lifelong memories, her children; Denise (Terry) Bennett, Danielle (Greg) Webb, Debbie Budgell, and Thomas (Samantha) Penney. Grandchildren; Adam, Rebecca, Jillian, Alicia and Hayley. Great Grandchildren; Noah, Sophia, and Olivia. Brothers; Clayton (Edith) Hancock, and Lorne (Judy) Hancock. Her special friends Maureen and Gord Carter.

Greta was predeceased by her husband William John Penney, and her life partner of 22 years Alton Peterson. Parents Ron and Stella Hancock.

The family would like to thank the medical team in the ER, and a special thank you and appreciation to the staff at Palliative Care Unit. You helped us more than you will ever know.

As per Greta’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 30^th from 7:00 – 9:00PM at 4 St. Marks Avenue.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be Made to the NL West SPCA and Corner Brook Palliative Care in her memory.
