Obituary of Sheila Coffin
Sheila Coffin
June 10, 1941 - July 27, 2025
It is with grieving hearts that the family of Sheila Margerite Coffin announces her passing
on July 27th at the age of 84 years.
Sheila leaves to mourn her dear husband of 62 years, William George Coffin; her daughter, Deanna and her husband, Charles Stoddard, and her beloved granddaughter, Myaella; her daughter, Kim (husband, Keith Snelgrove, deceased); her brother, Bernard (Elizabeth) and sister, Marilyn (Neal) Kinden. Sheila has also a large number of nephews and nieces, all of whom share in mourning her.
She was pre-deceased by her parents: William and Leona Legge of Robinsons, and by six of her
eight siblings: Edith (Isaac) Hulan, Charles (Phyllis), Elsie (Gerald) Luther, Robert (Sarah),
Catherine (George) Mitchell, Fred (Barbara).
Sheila, growing up in a family of nine, like so many children in rural NL, learnt to work and take responsibility early in life. With two younger siblings, she was often, while still a child herself, assigned responsibility of looking after them while her mother tended to her own chores. Added to that, living on a farm, she would feed the hens, gather eggs and soon learn to milk cows. These and other tasks formed her lifestyle of never shying away from responsibilities. She was an avid quilter and an excellent cook. Nobody ever left her table hungry. Then in the second half of her life, she and George began Driftwood Nursery in Robinsons. Sheila and George thrived in their new roles as entrepreneurs. Driftwood Nursery soon became a bustling business with many devoted and loyal customers and staff whom they appreciated and loved to see coming down their driveway.
Sheila was a beautiful, kind and loving person and she was loved by all of us.
As with so many grieving persons, it will take some time to adjust to her passing. Wherever she rests, may there be seed to sow and flowers to plant.
Visitation will take from St. George's Anglican church in Robinsons on Sunday, August 3rd from 7-9:00 P.M. from where the funeral will be held on Monday, August 4th at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Norman Cutler officiating. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to The Garden of Hope, Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville.
