Gary Douglas Brown

1948 - 2025

Gary Douglas Brown of Arthurette, NB passed away on June 15, 2025 at Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville, Carleton County, New Brunswick after a few months of illness.  He was a devoted husband to wife Annamarie, loving father to Debbie and Charlene, Santana and Austin.  Grandchildren Jasmine, Char-Leah, Anthony, Emma, Will, and Aubrie. Great grandchildren Jayda and Fenyx, and dearly loved and cherished sister, Alma.

Loving nephew to his uncle/brother (partner in crime) Bryant.  Pre-deceased by mother, Serena and brothers, Don and David.

Loving uncle to Donna (Paul) and Terry (Kelly), Johanna, BJ, Lisa, Terrilynn, and Scott; great nieces and nephews Alex, Danelle, Jaxon, Kyle, Jimmy, Joey, Brady, Logan, Taylor, Krystal, Jasmine, Carter, Haileymarie; and godchildren Cassandra and Corey.

Many loving family and friends from Ontario; Tony and Lina, Bill and Nancy, Bob and Gerry, and Arch.  Dear friends from New Brunswick, Mani and Marie, Peter and Nancy, and Nick and Tammy, along with many, many more dear friends over the years.

Dad led a full life, first in Corner Brook NL where he was born Mar 29, 1948 to mother Amelia Serena Brown, and father Charles Brown.  He then left for the brighter lights of Toronto as a young man, where he moved from Mississauga to Barrie, Ontario.  In his early 20’s, he played a couple games for the Boston Bruins and was asked to come practice with the Toronto Maple Leaf’s due to his exceptional hockey skills.  After a sports injury, he eventually moved and settled in Barrie, Ontario, where he became a pillar in the community with coaching kid’s sports.  His love of sports carried into coaching many of Barrie’s finest athletes. He is remembered and cherished by many who he not only coached with, but also, those he coached and took under his wing to help make a difference in their lives.  Barrie Bantum/Hockey A team, Barrie Baseball and Barrie Soccer Leagues. He made many friends for life.

His house was always full of family, friends, and furry loved ones.  He loved the many dogs and cats who blessed his life.

He worked with Simcoe Block in Barrie, Ontario for over 35+ years.

He met and married Annamarie in 2012 and after retiring, they moved to New Brunswick where they spent time in the woods on their four-wheeler and became host to and fed, many deer in their area.  He and Annamarie spent many evenings and weekends playing a game, Poker Dice.  He loved to watch the hummingbirds come to his feeder in his kitchen window.

His legacy are the memories that have been created with many and will be cherished forever.  He was son, brother, husband, dad, uncle, friend, coach, and affectionately known by his mom as “Meathead.”   Those who have known and loved him, know he had strong convictions (aka stubborn) but his LOVE and DEVOTION was even stronger.
