The Hamilton Family

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Paul Hamilton announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, at the age of 60 years.

In his youth, Paul was known as “Hendy,” a nickname earned for his slick moves in Pool, reminiscent of hockey legend Paul Henderson. Born in Fortune Harbour in 1965, Paul arrived just a year after his parents and four older siblings resettled from Black Island, Notre Dame Bay. Not long after, the growing family—eventually including three more siblings—made their home in Corner Brook, where the house was always filled with music, laughter, and love.

At 17, Sandra become the love of his life. Together, they worked Bingo through the teen years building a bond that would last a lifetime. After eight years side by side, Paul married Sandra on August 3, 1991, embracing her seven siblings as his own. Their family continued to grow with the arrival of Matthew, Paul’s beloved son, followed by Samantha, Matthew’s Partner and then Rori—Paul’s truest joy. Whether it was dancing, manicures, or nap times, Papa was all in, cherishing every moment.

Paul had a passion for cards, a sharp mind for Jeopardy, and a love for long drives with Sandra. He was always there—ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer support. His sense of humor was infectious, and his pride in “the young ones coming up” was unwavering.

After 35 years of dedicated service to Western Health, Paul retired and found a new rhythm in gardening alongside Sandra. His warmth, generosity, and easy friendship made him someone people naturally gravitated toward—a man who lived with heart, and gave it freely.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his devoted wife of 34 years, Sandra Hamilton (née Kennedy); his son Matthew Hamilton (Samantha); his pride and joy, granddaughter Rori; his siblings: Cyril Hamilton, Tony Hamilton (Melanie), Madonna Cave, Paula Brake (Bill), Laura Hamilton, Kevin Hamilton (Amy), and Andrea Keeping (Wayne); and his sisters-in-law: Sheila Green (Garland), Wanda Walsh (Keith), Jackie Hampton (David), Kim Andrews (Terry), and Cindy Hepditch (Aidan). He also leaves behind a large circle of adoring nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends

Paul was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Ruth Hamilton; his in-laws, Robert and Shirley Kennedy; and his brothers-in-law, Kerry and Milton Kennedy.

A special thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit and Cancer Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, as well as the community support nurses, for their compassionate care.

In keeping with Paul’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, on Wednesday, August 6th, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM.
