Leslie "Wilf" Wilfred Brake
September 5, 1940 – August 8, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Leslie “Wilf” Wilfred Brake announce his passing in Corner Brook on Friday, August 8, 2025 at the age of 84 years.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife: Muriel Brake; daughter: Marcie and grandpuppy Franky; the son he never had: Shawn Park (Melinda); siblings: Marilyn O’Keefe, Dave Brake, Kevin Brake (Betty); brother-in-law: Rod Kozak (Bonnie), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Leslie was predeceased by his parents: Edward and Audrey Brake; parents-in-law: Nick and Helen Kozak; brother: Ronald Brake as well as many aunts and uncles.

Leslie enjoyed spending time kayaking, hiking and going on many walks with his daughter. Him and his wife were both avid travellers who loved to experience new places and spent many years travelling around the world together, some of their travels included trips to Australia, Cuba, Indonesia, the United States, Russia, Germany, France, Tokyo and China where he visited with his brother Dave in 2018, as well as many other places around the world.

He was also a proud member of the Air Force and spent many years working with the Churchill Rocket Range (Pan Am) and the Torbay Rocket Range in St. Johns. Leslie also owned many of his own businesses including the Summit Lounge, Cheers Pub, and the Haven Inn in St. Anthony.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Wednesday, August 13, from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9pm and on Thursday, August 14, from 2-3pm. The funeral service will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, August 14, 2025 beginning at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leslie’s memory can be made to a charity of one's choice.
