Obituary of Hazel Eunice Hamlyn

It is with everlasting sorrow that the family of the late Hazel Hamlyn wish to announce her passing on August 9, 2025, at the Western Long Term Care Home (WLTC) in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. She leaves to mourn: son Cyrus (Christine); daughters, Angela (Kevin) and Maria (Mark), son-in-law Alan Shepherd; grandchildren, Stephen (Jennifer) Shepherd, Ashley (Angie) Shepherd, Nicholas Hamlyn, Alycia Hamlyn, Mason (Padina) Gordon, Loa Gordon, Emily Collier, Dawson Collier, and Eli Collier; great-grandchildren, Ben and Luke Shepherd, Declan and Mazie Shepherd, and Finchley and Andy Shai Gordon; brothers, Angus Moss and Reg Moss; sisters, Judy Sparkes and Anne Moss; and sister-in-law, Margaret Hamlyn. Predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Bud Hamlyn; daughter Hilda Shepherd; parents, Charles ans Margaret Moss; and brother Junior Moss. Hazel was a strong, energetic and independent person who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed a full and happy life alongside the love of her life, Bud. Together, they supported each other wholeheartedly and faced every challenge hand in hand.

At this time, the family would like to take the opportunity to thank the various medical professionals at the Western Memorial Hospital and the WLTC. A special place will be kept in our hearts for the many care givers at the WLTC units at Stillwater House and Bungalow One for the compassion, patience and love shown to Hazel during her stay. 

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 13 at Fillatre's Funeral Home located at 4 St. Mark's Ave. between 12:00- 2:00 pm, followed by a service at 2:30,with reverend Jocelyn Cook officiating and interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her lifetime companion Bud and daughter, Hilda. We invite you to join us at 4:30 pm at Fillatre's Funeral Home for a reception to celebrate Hazel's life. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the NL West SPCA
