It is with sadness that the family of the late Pearl Lucas announce her passing on Sunday, August 10^th, 2025, at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 78 years. Pearl will be forever missed by her husband Adolph (Dulphy) of 60 years; her children: Daphne (Troy), Cynthia (Carson) and Noel; grandchildren: Crystal, Patrick (Dawn) and Erica (Dave); great- grandchildren: Noah (Chloe) and Olivia.

Pearl was born in Terrenceville, NL and at the age of 16 decided to travel with her brother to Nove Scotia to live. While stopping by St. George’s at her sister Mary’s place for a rest she decided to stay. Shortly after she met Dulphy, married and settled in Stephenville Crossing.

Pearl was a cook for many years and often told stories about her beloved regulars and those she met during her time there, laughing at the number of hamburgers and pizzas she made over the years. After all the cooking she did for other families, she also loved to cook for her own family and made sure there were plenty of leftovers to take home. This was one of the many ways she showed her love for her family. She was a very good Cribbage player and despite the many games played between them, Dulphy could not come close to matching her wins. Her confidence, quick wit, strong will and “say it as it is” attitude are just a few of the qualities remembered by all who knew her.

Pearl was the youngest and last surviving member of her family, she was predeceased by her parents: Michael and Mary Ellen McCarthy; siblings: Patrick, Michael, Earl, Francis, Alice and Mary.

In following Pearl’s wishes, cremation will take place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14^th 7-9 p.m at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 37 West Street, Stephenville Crossing. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southwest Coast SPCA.

The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital and Western Memorial Regional Hospital for their attentiveness and compassion.
